Soti Elonid is a Tar Valoner Green Oathsworn Asha'man of the Grey Tower.
Description
A middle aged man with finely tanned skin from years growing up in the bastion of Tar Valon. Not overly short in stature, he is a heavy set man whose gait makes him appear to be constantly walking on his tiptoes. He usually favors Illian fashion and keeps his hair maintained immaculately in a combed back appearance. His most notable features are the bright copper eyes that are laughably large, but contain obvious intelligence. He believes himself a philosopher, often quoting his self-made maxims of wisdom to any who would listen. An odd superstition he maintains is that when he enters a room he must immediately open the window no matter the circumstance or weather.
Biography
The Elonid family had prospered for four generations in the city of Tar Valon. As merchant their wares were coveted and the family had been more successful with each generation. Soti in particular was preparing to enjoy a life of happiness and indulgence in the fortieth year after his name day when strange things began to happen around him. Items would explode, patrons who angered him found themselves with bizarre injuries at a touch, and worst was he began to develop a strange knack for finding ore veins; a profession his family had never favored.
Before long Soti found himself in the White Tower seeking Healing. Shortly thereafter he found that like the women whom he’d respected and feared for years he could touch the One Power. Knowing the stories of the Red Sisters he fled, leaving behind family and business, when a former customer betrayed his secret to the Aes Sedai for profit. Finding himself in the company of the Dragon Reborn’s Black Tower, Soti struggled amongst men of his ilk, but found the difficult trials beneath him.
Once again the former merchant sought a better deal at another Tower. Finally the Grey Tower opened itself to him and he reluctantly made himself at home. That had twenty years past and each year he prayed to the Creator to be rid of his curse, yet everyone morning began with the constant awareness of Saidin hovering within reach…
