Shamus de Cogan is a Seanchan Blue Oathsworn Asha'man of the Grey Tower.

Biography

Shamus de Cogan was born in the capital of the Seanchan Empire, Seandar. At a young age he was taken to be trained in the army where they found that he had a remarkable affinity for one of the exotics, the Torm. They chose to train him as a handler and shortly after was tested to ride a Torm. He passed quite respectively and advanced quickly along the ranks earning several accreditations before being promoted to der'morat'torm, he was believed to be a likely candidate to be raised to the Blood. His finest moment was the day he was nominated to travel with the Hailene to begin reclaiming the lands stolen by Artur Hawkwing. Once he arrived in the lands stolen from him, he and his men began scouting routing out brigands, rebels and helping to secure and collar four Aes Sedai. Because of the new lands secured Shamus was raised to the Blood and allowed to shave the crests of his hair and lacquer his two middle fingers dark green. His rise was fast with succession after succession. One day, whilst out scouting for Whitecloaks claimed to be in the area by fliers, a terrible fog appeared. He travelled back as quickly as possible to find Artur Hawkwing with a male channeler before he dissipated. Horror-struck, he turned his Torm, Osca, and fled into the wilderness. After weeks of wandering he happened upon a black coated old man in a village who was asking for those loyal to the Lord Dragon. Shamus knew that the Final Battle must be approaching and swore that he was loyal to the Dragon second only the Empress. The old man then lit a fire on his hand and asked Shamus to watch. Horror-struck he felt the presence before aware that it was Power related. He then knew that he could either return to Seandar and throw himself from the Tower of Ravens or swear fealty and be able to assist in the Last Battle. Once he was told that the taint was gone he knew his answer and joined the Asha'man to become a Soldier. Shamus is exceptionally tall at six and a half feet with blonde hair shaved at a crest that he is now attempting to grow out because of hostilities towards his people. He is thin with a cat-like grace from his life as a soldier. His only distinguishing feature is a long scar down the left side of his face from forehead to jaw. He has a short beard in the style of an Illianer with the upper lip bare.

His Torm has followed him to the Gray Tower. His only other possession is his red tasseled sword.
