Biography

A searing breeze whiped its way across the barren land. Most people would not be caught dead in the Aiel waste, as the wetlanders called it, but Reithar was born and raised in the Three-fold land and would not feel comfortable anywhere else. Reithar was of the Nine Vallys sept of the Tardaad Aiel. He was Cor Darei, a Night Spear. He stood taller than most men with grey eyes that would seem to pierce your soul if you were not Aiel. His skills as a fighter were gained at an unbeleiveable rate and he was told that in a few years he would be allowed to go to Rhuidean. But Reithar found out something about himself that negated everything. He discovered he could channel. At this point he did not care of how to learn to use the power. This was not the purpose of his trip. He was going north to the great blight to Dance the Spears with the Dark One. He carried only a small pouch with his pipe and some Two Rivers tabac he had bought from a merchant. He ! did not need water for this trip. He knew this was not possible for even should he reach Shayol Ghul, he would not survive.

He traveled this way for weeks until he happened on a band of Tuatha'an. The lost ones. He hid outside their camp listening to them talk. He gathered from their speech that there was a place men could go to learn to channel. The grey tower. A save haven for men and women who wanted to lear to channel. Reithar did not want to learn to channel but could he help his people by doing so. Could he somehow atone for their ancient sin. At this point he decided. Anything was better than dying needlessly. Rumor said the tower was in the mointains of mist. Somewhere to the west. The wetlands.

The next few months passed uneventfully. Reithar traveled just north of the tree-killers lands and finally arived at Dragonmount. Laman had been punished for his sin. Would Reithar suffer the same fate.

"Death comes to us all", He said quietly as he walked on. Aiel never used horses so were used to walking everywhere. He traveled southwest and finally ended up in Whitebridge. Reithar did not enter the town as his appearence would not be invited by the locals. He did however meet a merchant outside of the town who did not act afraid of him.

"You have been to the three-fold land?" Reithar asked the merchant.

"No but I do be familar Aiel customs. I did not think you would attack me as merchants be among the few people allowed in the waste."

"Your name wetlander?" Reithar asked.

"I do be called Paendrag"

"Your accent betrays you. You are not from these parts"

"I do be from Illian"

They sat back around the camp fire and talked of trading and the goings on in the world. Reithar bought some Two rivers tabac from Paendrag and they smoked their pipes as they talked. Eventually Reithar confirmed his suspicions of the location of the grey tower and said his goodbyes.

"May you always find shade and water."

He now stood on the steps leading to the grey tower still wearing his cadin'sor. What would await him upon entering. Would he be an outcast or would he be brought into their society. He had come this far. He could not turn back now. One thing was sure if he did not learn now he would surely die. Gathering the courage of his people he stepped through the large doors.
