Prewtez d'Grayson is an Andoran Gaidin of the Grey Tower.
Description
Prewtez is a thoughtful man, given to reading histories and philosophies rather than spending his time in inns drinking cheap ale. His scar was acquired in a border skirmish with marauding Murandians. Affable, but a bit standoffish with people he does not know, Prewtez has proven to be a loyal friend and dependable soldier.
Until his half-brother was born, Prewtez was being groomed by his father as successor to the lordship of House Northan. But with the birth of a legitimate son, Prewtez's father lost interest in his bastard son. This has created in Prewtez a deep distrust of nobility in general though he did come to admire Gareth Bryne during the years of service to the Queen.
Prewtez seems to be a bit stoic in expression and has the tendency to raise his left eyebrow in a questioning fashion when he hears something he finds unusual. This tic tends to draw attention to his scar, giving him a more formidable appearance than is intended. Actually, he is a most patient man, slow to anger and able to put up with the foibles of his comrades.
Besides the scar above his left eye, Prewtez has a tattoo of the House standard, a black eagle, on his right arm.
Prewtez wears his scabbard on his right side, being left handed, unusual for a swordsman. He is also a passable shot with a long bow but nothing to rival the skills of the Two Rivers' men.
A final trait to distinguish Prewtez is his easy going style around animals. Dogs and horses seem to love him.
Biography
Prewtez is the bastard son of the previous lord of House Northan. His half-brother Conail is now lord of the House and distrusts Prewtez given that he is just 16 while Prewtez is 13 years his senior. Long fearing that a faction might back the older man for the lordship, Conail devised a scheme to send his half-brother off as a Hunter of the Horn.
Approaching thirty, with his hair greying prematurely, Prewtez has no desire to join the pompous crowd seeking the legendary horn. As a veteran of the Queen's Guards, Prewtez has served under Gareth Bryne in various border skirmishes and has gained some proficiency as a swordsman though still far from yet earning the coveted heron-marked weapon of a blademaster. Yet the soldier's life has lost its appeal.
Due to more than one unpleasant encounter with White Cloaks, unpleasant for them actually as Prewtez left three Men of the Light in no physical condition to raise weapons again, Prew, as he was known by his comrades-in-arms, decided to head to Hama Valon where he will present himself to Mistress of Training, Ubriel Bryne Gaidar in the hopes of being accepted for Warder's Training. He realizes his age could be a factor but hopes to impress Bryne.
Prewtez's main desire now is to prove worthy of earning a warder's cloak. With the chaos that is affecting the world of late, his main hope is to become a warder to an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, the battle Ajah, so that he might one day fight in Final Battle, Tarmon Gai'don.
