Lydarian Felandred is a Cairhienin Yellow Oathsworn Aes Sedai of the Grey Tower.

Description

Lydarian is fairly short, even for a Cairhienin, but still has quite a presence. She has a sweet, oval shaped face, and piercing brown eyes. Lydarian’s lips are plush, and her face is fairly soft. She is not a heavy woman, but she is curvaceous. Her black hair is long, and is either worn down her back or tied away from her face with a ribbon. She dresses very conservatively, generally in Cairhienin fashions in muted yellows and greens.

She is a stern woman, but is motherly and kind to those who know her. Lydarian will not stand for any nonsense, and is quick to give others lectures on proper behavior. Her disapproval is not comfortable, and most people are quick to give her the proper respect. Lydarian is a very self-contained woman, and does not need friendship or support to thrive. She has never thought of bonding a warder, and does not consider her closest companions to be her friends. However, Lydarian appreciates having protégées, both in the Yellow Ajah and the Black. She enjoys teaching, and considers it a simple way to shape others and gain loyalty and control. Lydarian constantly meddles in the lives of others to her own gain, and is constantly trying to gain more power and influence in the Grey Tower. She is no stranger to Daes Dae’mar, and is very adept at navigating politics in the Grey Tower and the Black Ajah.

Biography

Lydarian was born to a minor Cairhienin house, and her life was fairly uneventful until she was tested for the ability to channel the One Power. She did not take to life as a novice easily; the chores and lack of freedom grated on her nerves, but Lydarian was very aware of the power she could eventually have as an Aes Sedai. She gritted her teeth and applied herself for five years as a novice until she was raised to Accepted. As an Accepted, she discovered a talent for Healing. Her new talent consumed her; for a time, Lydarian forgot her dreams of power and instead concentrated all of her efforts on Healing. After seven years as an Accepted, she was raised to the Yellow Ajah.

The Yellow was not what she had hoped it would be; there were few new weaves for her to learn, and her curiosity about the human body was not satisfied. The Three Oaths quickly began to chafe; Lydarian did not have the freedom to go about researching how Healing related to human anatomy, which would be bloody work. It took only a few years for a Black sister, also in the Yellow Ajah, to recognize Lydarian’s urges, and took even less time for Lydarian to swear her allegiance to the Great Lord and release herself from the confines of the Three Oaths. For the next twenty years, Lydarian did not return to the Grey Tower. Instead she followed her urges, and began a self-paced course on the workings on the human body.

Eventually, Lydarian sated her curiosity and returned to the Grey Tower, now hungering for power instead of knowledge. After many years of political maneuvering, Lydarian found herself higher in the ranks of the Yellow Ajah, but certainly not close to becoming the First Weaver or a Sitter. Instead, Lydarian cast her net, looking for a biddable Aes Sedai to control. At a time when the White Ajah was required to appoint a new Sitter to the Hall, Lydarian found Wilhelmaena, a sister of the White. Although it took a considerable degree of her skill and a little bit of murder, Lydarian enacted the change that raised Wilhelmaena to Sitter of the White Ajah. With the promise of more power to come, Lydarian brought Wilhelmaena into the Black Ajah. With the Wilhelmaena in the Hall, Lydarian has been able to create the change she craves in the Tower. Satisfied with Wilhelmaena and their relationship, she had begun to look for a new protégée to turn to the Dark.
