Kandor is a country located in the North, one of the four Borderland nations which lie between the Great Blight and the rest of the land.

Description

Kandor is one of the strongest and united of nations with the seat of power called the Throne of the Clouds. The throne is located in the Aesdaishar Palace in the capital, Chachin. Kandor has excellent relations with the other three Borderland Nations, being between Saldaea to the west and Arafel to the east. The sign of Kandor is a rearing red horse on a field of pale green.

The nation of Kandor was formed early in the War of the Hundred Years. The governors of Hawkwing's five northern provinces met and agreed to form stable nations to preserve the peace and defend against the Blight. Jarel Soukovni was the first King of Kandor.

Kandor has a long history of participating in the trade of furs, and fox skins from Kandor are highly prised.

Culture

The law (as in every Borderland Nation) forbids hiding your face inside a village or town, this is to make sure there are no Myrddraal.

Certain indications imply that a child with parents of different nationality take on the nationality of their mother.

Kandor is the home of a powerful merchants' guild, and many affluent merchants have their origins there. Master merchants wear three silver chains across their chest.

Clothing and Appearance

The Kandori can be recognised by the earrings that they wear. They are worn by both men and women, and can sometimes be quite flamboyant.

Kandori men wear their beards in a distinctive forked style, and often wear up to three silver chains over their coats. Loose breeches seem to be worn by both men and women alike.

Kandori necklaces are famous for a pattern known as the Kandori Snowflake. These are intricately worked discs, each with a slightly different pattern.

Phrases, Sayings and Adages
