Biography

A retired Child of the Light found Justan in a hedge, at a cottage just outside of Amador. The old man took the child into his home and began raising him as his own. Liam Muralle was a kind man, and treated the boy with love and kindness. Over the years, Justan came to call the man "Father."

When Justan was about ten years old, Liam began teaching him to use weapons of war. The sword forms were taught to him first, and Justan soon became well versed with the scimitar. Liam then began teaching the art of the partizan, the weapon Justan now relies on for all his fights. Justan fell in love with the elegant partizan. Of all the weapons he studied, this was his favorite. A combination of a sword blade and a quarterstaff, the partizan was a perfect choice for the boy, as it afforded better defensive postures. When Justan was about eighteen years old, Liam died.

Justan was left with the household belongings and nothing more; the house was the property of the Children of the Light. All of the weapons Liam had trained Justan to use belonged to Justan now, along with memories of childhood. Justan set off to join the Children of the Light. In Amador, the recruiters laughed at Justan, knowing him from the visits Liam had made to the Dome of Truth, and chased him out of the fortress. This left him devastated. He thought they would welcome him into the fold, but they had no use for a boy raised by the "crazy old man" from outside the city. Then Justan remembered a talk Liam had with him. The talk was about the Aes Sedai.

Liam voiced his opinion to Justan, "...the Aes Sedai and Children of the Light needed to unite to defeat the Father of Lies." Liam had always felt that the Aes Sedai would be the only saving grace in the Last Battle, and the Children should work with them. Justan set off to find the Aes Sedai. After almost two years searching, Justan had all but given up on finding the Aes Sedai, when some Warders out searching for recruits found him. He was surprised to see the three men standing beside him, for he had not heard them approach. They talked for a while, and Justan asked to follow them. They pointed Justan in the right direction, and vanished in the night.

After several years, Justan left the Grey Tower to claim an inheritance he never suspected would come to him. In his step grandfather’s will, everything was left to Justan…an estate in Ilian and Murrandy, land as far as the eye can see, and the responsibility that comes with it. Justan moved there and settled in for what he thought would be the rest of his life. He was wrong.
