The familiar skyline of Hama Valon began to loom before her, the Grey Tower dominating everything in her sight. It was a relief to finally make her way back through those familiar walls of the place she'd called her home for so long. She looked forward to everything, seeing her daughter again, to walking those familiar halls, she dared smile for the first time in what seemed to be years, though her smile trailed off to the Aiel man that walked swiftly beside her horse, his hands gripping the spearpoint tightly to the small of their prisoner's back.

The man that had made an attempt on a tower sister's life had managed to escape, but Laela had vowed to bring him to justice. A former Gaidin, he'd disgraced himself and was being brought back as a traitor to his own oaths. Her eyes weren't for the prisoner, however. She'd only paid enough attention to be sure he didn't try to run off, invisible bonds of air tied off around his wrists. Her eyes were for the Aiel man. It had been a chance meeting, and she had him to thank for the capture of this criminal. Garanduin had been a good friend to her since leaving, and the feelings she could feel from him welling up from the bond reassured her that she'd never be without him, that she'd have his protection for the rest of her days.

Drawing through the city they traded a few looks, and she'd pointed out to him the important places in the city, and towards the tower walls. Her only good hand still gripped to the reins as she rode, sapphire eyes taking in the tower as it grew to dominate the sky. Garanduin moved to help her down from the horse as they approached the gates, holding her hand to herself. She tried in vain to flex the fingers of her left hand as she settled on the ground, but only the barest twitch of her fingers availed.

"Thank you," she said in soft tones, before her eyes flashed back to the prisoner. She gestured to the stablehands. "Get the guards and have them put this man into custody. He'll be facing trial for his crimes," she said sternly.

As they fled the scene, recognition plain in their eyes, she took a deep breath and regarded Garanduin, and his hands moved to the growing swell of her abdomen. The fierce warriors eyes shone with affection and pride.

"We've made it back to your roof," he said to her. "You'll be able to birth in safety," he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.

Returning the kiss with a gentle touch, she nodded. "You don't have any regrets about coming with me?" she asked softly.

He shook his head. "You are my family now," he told her. "You, our child, and your daughter will be my oaths from this day forward."

Laela smiled, inclining her head towards him. She waited until the guards came to take the man away before leading him on. "I need to report in," she said, beckoning him forward. "And I do think it's also important that we find Kaelyn. We have much to catch up on, I'm sure."
