Day 1: I have been told that writing a diary can help keep sane while doing the month exile. So here it is...

As soon as we had arrived here today she put us right to work. The Mistress of the Farms that is, or so they all call her. That woman is loud, bossy and has a wicked arm! She knocked a Dedicated right off his feet for swearing around a child! At least all she made us do today was kitchen duty so we can get used to the main living areas, though that was truly horrid.

This is going to be a long month, and a hot one too! The sun was up and bright quite early, and the farmers claim a heat wave is on the way.

Fun...

Day 2: That woman woke us up to wake the bloody rooster! I cannot believe it, she works us till the moon is at its peak then wakes us before it slips away! She had made us prepare breakfast for the field workers even before that light blinded rooster woke them all up! Not only did they trash the mess hall first thing in the morning, the one fat pig grabbed my butt!

Dear Light, this is already a tiring affair. Only the second day and I am already fed up. At least we were allowed to retire for the evening early today.

Day 3: Today was another overly early morning. We had to go fetch eggs from the chicken pens first thing in the morning, and guess what. This one Drin had to bump into the rooster! My head was pounding until midday due to that loud creature! I wonder how a rooster would taste cooked on a spit...

Funny how scrubbing pots can change your anger to another victim! What made the headache worse though was all morning the bloody Drin was complaining about the rooster pecking her in the leg and leaving a bruise!

The mess hall was a mess again, and we had to clean it all after every meal. Do they get paid extra just to give us a worse punishment?

Day 4: First we were woken up early again by that loud woman, and now we have been given our daily schedules. Egg picking, milking the cows, preparing breakfast, cleaning the mess hall then the dishes, and that's just the first few hours of morning! It makes a girl appreciate her daily classes at the Tower that much more.

We then prepare the lunches, clean the mess hall; clean the pots and dishes, and then we begin preparation for supper. Then we clean and clean and clean once again!

Day 5: Well today was easier. We are all getting used to the daily routine of life, which if rumours prove true the duties will soon switch over. My abdomen has been beginning to hurt; soon the pains of womanhood will come... I am not looking forward to four or five days of constant sewing holes up in a room.

Day 6: It has been raining all day today, so the workers have been rather gloomy. Great for the plants, yea! Bad for a Novices butt though. Also a day like today means messier mess halls and more dishes and ale. I am glad we got a batch of sawdust yesterday, because I can imagine some partaking in too much drink already. I wish they gave us extra time to bathe...

Day 7: Today is my first of my monthly sewing days, and I do not feel very well. The moisture in the air and all the heat is making me feel rather dizzy. I received my first pile of clothes to mend today; did I mention that I am horrible at sewing? Good thing these are mostly work clothes.

Day 8: I found myself remembering and missing my friends today as I sowed countless rags. I miss Jip, he is such a sweet man, I bet his brother's Whisper is probably licking him to submission as I write this. I also really do miss Zander, that guy is quite something. I wonder if he has been raised yet? Rumour was that the Master of Soldiers though him worthy... Amairwyn and Kailitha are probably studying today, that would be much more enjoyable then this. I wonder if Sayacya has been getting along better with the others.

Day 9: My stomach really hurts today, ever since that awful day all I seem to feel is some kind of pain or another. I have to change my life around! I have to study and follow in Mother's footsteps. Perhaps one day when she returns she might be proud of me! How I miss you, Mother. And you too, Mat. I wonder what you would have though seeing our Father's spirit so utterly broken... It really hurt me...

Day 10: I am never sewing again! Burn this stitching! I will never put myself in this situation again, no more breaking laws and custom unless it's absolutely necessary! No more making people hear my song unless it's truly a life or death situation.

I might be feeling better, but my hands are not! They have cramps and they feel as if on fire! Dear Creator, please shelter me from this ridiculous burden!

Day 11: Today I rejoined the workforce. We took to the fields and assisted the farmers harvesting the crops. It wasn't too bad there was a good wind blowing; the ground gave way to the crops fairly easily according to the farmers. I am not sure I believe them. None of the work was anything I would consider easy.

Day 12: The sun was burning brightly today, causing a fellow Novice to collapse from heat exhaustion. The potatoes were very hard to harvest today because the ground was baked hard. This is much better then kitchen duty and sowing, but light do I miss my own bed, my books and a quality instrument! This work leaves too much time for the mind to wander through bad memories.

Every time we go to the mess hall I still hear that bloody woman yell! Makes one want to stuff a loaf of bread in her mouth!

Day 13: Now the men are hooting at us Novices every time we are out working with them! Where are their wives? You would never catch a married man act like this in the Tower, most definitely not! If Kailitha were here she would probably beat them all down promptly! If Maria Sedai were here she would set them all straight I am quite sure...

I wonder what she has in store for me... Crysthia Sedai was merciful, but I doubt Maria will be so kind. I will earn her respect, that's a personal promise.

Day 14: Not in the mood to write!

Day 15: I do not know why that girl insists on giving me such horrible looks all the time! It's taking all I have to not go slap that look off of her face! All I have been doing is working and doing the job right, no need for the incompetent to get all cranky about it!

I might just have to talk to that bloody loud woman, great...

Day 16: Fantastic, I had a talk all morning with the loud woman about that whiny girl, then work the fields alone with the guys all after noon and now I am stuck doing all of the dishes alone. Stilling must be horrible if it is considered worse then this.

When I am fully raised perhaps I might work towards becoming one of the tower administrators as my Mother was and help young men and women before they get in trouble for doing forbidden acts.

Day 17: Today was quite difficult, and i did not rest enough. I can barely keep my...

Day 18: The potatoes are done with! Such a good batch of whites and reds! Thank the light for that. The turnips on the other hand might not turn out all that good, but those are to be picked in a few weeks still. They are not my problem.

With only that ready anytime soon, the field is going to be tilled by the men tomorrow in preparation for the next batch of vegetables. We are going to be transferred to the shipping area for a few days before going to room service duties. This woman runs her charges quite well, teaching them different tasks along with the punishments. I appreciate her work, but dear Light I hope never to see her again!

Day 19: We prepared most of the potatoes for the Tower and put away some in the cellar for personal use. Tomorrow they are sending the vegetables along with a Drin who tore a muscle in his back. I hope he will be ok, he's a good guy.

Day 20: It's rained all day so it was kitchen duty. I'm tired and going to bed.

Day 21: Back to kitchen duty for a few days. The Mistress got angry and has made all the workers clean up their own areas. How, inconvenient... So much for having no bruises on my butt...

Day 22: Some Soldier broke his wrist today trying to show off to the older men. Fool boy claimed he could but a wooden log with his hand like the Lord Dragon! Dear light...

Day 27: It seems that rooster loving Drin though it would be funny to hide my diary! Real funny... She must be enjoying a private chat with the Mistress right about now.

Yay! Also i am to train the next group of punished kids now. This is an interesting system, even though the staff very much doubt the system will be used next season due to it's inconsistency. Many are remembering fondly the tough old days as they call it.

Day 28: Today was a simple one. Show the new arrivals their rooms, and guide them around while the Mistress attends to her sick niece. Most of these kids will have a very hard time here.

Day 29: Simple day today. I taught some my fellow Learning Ranks how to edit the inventory as they stock the kitchens. Some have a nack for paper work, some do not.

Time to try and sleep so I can go home tomorrow. I rather miss everyone. I hope there will be another Learning Ranks luncheon soon.
