Erishar Kurian is a Shienaran Red Oathsworn Asha'man of the Grey Tower.

Description

Erishar is not incredibly tall for a Borderlander, but he is not incredibly short, either. Even though he has long since left his home, he keeps his hair in the traditional top knot, although he has since grown out the hair he had once shaven. He keeps good posture and minds his appearance, always choosing the best clothes. He sees himself as a representative of the Grey Tower and holds himself responsible for how others see him. Always by his side is his sword. He is not entirely well-versed in its use, but he knows his way around a blade well enough to use it, if he deems it necessary.

Erishar is a fastidious man with a keen eye for detail and a knack for reading people. Always looking for someone to help, he holds a deep respect for others who do the same. Whenever trust is found, he is a loyal ally, ready to stand and fight to aid his friend's cause. While he is rather quiet, Erishar is a gentle man, always willing to lend a hand. The children of Mar a'Mael find these qualities in him confusing at first, but once the ice is broken with them, they find a steadfast and sentimental mentor, keeping all trinkets offered to him. Erishar takes his role as Asha'man quite seriously, and takes his resposibility to the people he serves even more seriously. Because of his passion for the people that he serves, he elected to keep the Three Oaths when he was presented the opportunity to remove them.

Biography

Erishar always thought he would grow up to be a warrior, like his parents. Both his mother and father were part of his town's defense against the Blight, taking rotations in shifts along with the rest of the patrol. Being an only child, his parents took the time to train him to use a sword from an early age. By the time he turned sixteen, he was no Blademaster, but he could use the sword efficiently enough to defend himself and others from enemies from the Shadow. As he grew, he took an interest in helping those around his community, especially those affected by Trolloc raids. Even though he fought alonside his parents now, he felt a further need to keep accountable of his actions.

One day, shortly after his twentieth name day, something happened to the small town of Arken that had never happened before. They received a visit from an Aes Sedai and Asha'man. Erishar had heard the stories of all three Towers, of course. This pair hailed from the Grey Tower. The Aes Sedai was elegant in her green shawl, and the Asha'man sported a cord of the same color. They told the people of Arken about how the Grey Tower was a place for men and women who channel to work together to the betterment of the world. The Asha'man noticed how intrigued Erishar seemed to be, and asked him if he'd like to be tested for the ability to channel.

When it was found that he could be taught to seize Saidin, he left Arken with the Aes Sedai and Asha'man, along with a few other recruits. Before he left, he made sure to keep in contact with a few people in town, in order to keep track of how they were doing. During his training, Erishar always kept up with his duties as far as studying went, and he always went out of his way to help out a friend, encouraging people where he thought they needed it, and even calling out injustices when he saw them occur. It was a bit of a surprise surprise when he chose the Red Ajah when he was raised to the dragon pin. His reasoning being that the Red Ajah was more likely to encounter injustices by diving in, rather than playing politics around them. In his eyes, this was the new equivalent of becoming a warrior against the Blight.

With Traveling having been rediscovered, he still keeps many contacts in the Borderlands, but he keeps them as eyes-and-ears now. In Hama Valon, he mentors children in the Mar a'Mael and directs others where they can get the help that they need.

During an attack on the Grey Tower, Erishar agreed to become a bonded Warder to an Aes Sedai of his own Ajah, Torianin. He stays steadfastly by her side and encourages her when she needs it, but does not voice it. He has great respect and loyalty for her and her adoptive daughter, Abby.
