Daelar Ralead is a Seanchan Dedicated of the Grey Tower.

Description

Daelar is suspicious, but very loyal to the determined ruler, as a result of his Seanchan upbringing. He is formal, and almost never insults anyone. He makes few friends, but trusts them deeply. He very rarely draws attention to himself, preferring to let other people keep the glory, while he achieves his ends. He keeps little, other than his Grolm trainer's whip which was given to him by his uncle. He rarely fights, but has proven himself to be dangerous, even for a Seanchan, because of his cool head and objective planning. He frequents the warder yards whenever possible, to acquire greater skill with various weapons, in case he is not able to channel for any reason.

He struggles with whether the Seanchan empire is despicable or not.Occasionally he will feel uncontrollable revulsion for everyone in the tower who channels, including himself. He also seems to argue with himself often, not in his head, but verbally, as if he is two separate people. This seems to be a result of his madness, which, on rare occasions, causes him to have a very short temper and no self control, but no reason, either. These outbursts are rare, and last only a short time.

Daelar learns quickly, though he often prefers to learn theory rather than something practical. He is rather unconventional because of this, and often surprises his elders with some new method, which is often found rather annoying. He highly dislikes someone who teaches him something, without giving the why or how it works.

Biography

Daelar Ralead came over from Seanchan, with his family, as part of the Corenne. In Seandar, his uncle had been a respected grolm trainer, very fond of Daelar, when he inexplicably vanished. At that point Daelar was forced to resign himself to being a simple farmer rather than a prestigious grolm trainer. His family had gone with the Corenne in the hopes of perhaps becoming more prosperous. However, they were still farmers, even though they were given more trusting duties than most other farmers.

Daelar was bringing the officers horses in to the stable when they came. He had no idea who they were, or what reason they had for burning the farm. They rode up to the house, and his father came out to meet them. One of the riders, he looked like the leader, simply sliced his head off. his mother screamed, very uncharacteristically, and his brothers came running. The soldiers slew them, and he sat in shock. Then the leader said something, and the soldiers went into the house and toward the stable. That's when it happened. He felt as if he were at war with himself, a feeling that would stay with him for a long time. He cried out with rage, and attacked the soldiers. No time later, they were all dead. He only had his whip, yet some seemed to be burnt, others looking like they were ripped apart. He ran toward the woods, and continued running until he fell unconscious. The next day, he traveled farther, wandering in no particular direction. Days later, he was found arguing with himself in loud tones. This brought into action a chain of events that ended with him joining the Grey Tower.
