Crysthia Faedryn is a Cairhienin White Oathsworn Aes Sedai of the Grey Tower.
Description
Crysthia is fairly short even for a Cairhienin. Her waist is very thin, though hardly from lack of eating as she enjoys good food. Her arms and legs are somewhat muscular. She has long straight blond hair that sweeps down past her butt, which is often left down, but occasionally put into a long braid. She has piercing blue eyes, though events over the past few years have caused a dark shadow to appear in them at times. Her teeth are perfectly straight, but often kept hidden because she rarely smiles.
Over the years she has gained the smooth ageless face of an Aes Sedai. Not much surprises her, or so she thinks. She's highly intelligent and knows it, but is often lazy unless she is very interested in something. She has a very quick temper, but is hard put to hold a grudge. She often regrets later what she has done in anger, but rarely feels guilt for long. She doesn't let anyone get close to her and keeps even people she considers to be friends at a distance. Many have called her cold, though if they are given the rare chance to get to know her, they usually change their opinions. Once raised Aes Sedai she developed a soft spot for novices, and enjoys helping them, especially those with the potential to become Whites.
Biography
Crysthia Faedryn was born of some minor nobility in Cairhien. Growing up an only child, her parents did their best to spoil her and gave in to her every whim. They made sure she had a decent education and could read and write. If she showed interest in something they tried to foster it.
To her parents dismay Crysthia insisted on pursuing hunting and fighting. For self-defense she claimed. She excelled at the bow and often braided her hair to mimic that of Birgitte Silverbow; though she knew her skill didn't come near that of the legendary archer.
As Crysthia approached 16 her parents hoped to match her with a fine Cairhienin lord preferably of higher status than her family. Crysthia had no desire whatsoever to marry some young lord and live her life as an unhappy noblewoman. She would have preferred to live alone, on a quiet farm with a few cats for company.
When she found out of her parents plans to get her married, Crysthia was furious. She threw a fit declaring she would never marry. In the midst of her fit one of the tapestries on the wall caught fire. She had no idea how but she didn't care, she used the distraction to grab the few possessions she cared about including her bow, and leave.
The whole house was quickly catching fire. She made her way to the stables and saddled her favorite horse, Areilis. She didn't know where she would go, but that was hardly on her mind as Crysthia road away from her now engulfed home. She looked back once to ensure her parents had made it to safety and then vowed never to think of them again.
Crysthia traveled for a time, thinking to go to Andor, where she knew one of her childhood friends had gone. It was springtime and she had no trouble catching game with her bow, so that she wouldn't starve. When she reached Caemlyn and inquired after her friend she learned that she had been married to a Taraboner and had moved there.
Crysthia was furious. Now what was she going to do? She walked the streets of Caemlyn barely looking where she was going and ran right into an Aes Sedai. The Aes Sedai didn't take kindly to being run into, especially when Crysthia shouted at her to watch where she was going.
Crysthia soon realized her mistake however when she finally noticed the Aes Sedai's ageless face. She began apologizing immediately. Suddenly the Aes Sedai's face broke into a smile. The Aes Sedai informed Crysthia that she had the potential to become an Aes Sedai, one day. Perhaps after many years of hard training.
Suddenly Crysthia found herself on her way to the Grey Tower, which was located quite a ways from Caemlyn, in the Mountains of Mist. She didn't know whether to believe this Aes Sedai, perhaps it was just some cruel Aes Sedai joke because of her rudeness. But she had been told Aes Sedai couldn't lie. So, she decided, as they neared the Grey Tower, to go along with it for now, after all she could always leave if she wanted right?
