Avyra Moeryr is a Cairhienin Accepted of the Grey Tower.

Description

Avyra is small and pale with a slender build that has very little form to her stature, only weighing about 85 pounds. Her hair is brown with a distinct wave in it, not enough to be curly but enough to make it "not straight,” coming down to her shoulders as it frames her heart shaped face.. Her eyes are a deep green, bright and young with the innocence of the world still, being only about 22. When she can, she wears bright colors, mostly greens and purples, but she likes the color green the most. She tends to be easily overlooked with such a small frame, thus her love for bright colors was born.

Not seeming able to sit still, she's incredibly sparky and easily bored or agitated. She will often stand on her tiptoes, especially in a heated debate, in an attempt to get some extra height. Most of the time she doesn't realize she's doing this; it’s mostly a nervous habit. She is easy to provoke into a spat, but once started she won't step down from her beliefs and can be stubborn and hard to convince. Avyra is extremely loyal to what she believes in and isn't afraid to fight for it, but she lacks tact when doing so. Her sharp tongue tends to do more harm than good. Her headstrong attitude also has some side effects for herself, too. Once she has decided something is truth, it is and will never be anything but. She has decided that, being so small, she is unnoticed and will never find friends, even though they are all around her. She could be in the middle of a group and still decide that she is lonely.

Although fire in a debate, Avyra enjoys meeting others and making friends, doing this very easily, and once she decides on a friend she stays loyal to them forever. She will fight for the people she cares about. She always has to have something new around her or else she'll get bored, and she absorbs new information quickly. She is curious about everything from facts to gossip, and is very good at finding out what she wants to know. She is very organized with her schedule and always has to know where she's supposed to be and what time she's supposed to be there. She can never be on time for anything; only early.

However, Avyra continues to doubt herself, even with her plethora of support. She was convinced she would never become an Accepted when she was a Novice, due to her un-Aes Sedai-like appearance. She sees the Aes Sedai as being regal, elegant, and graceful; she is none of those things, and even if she was, nobody would see her as anything other than a child due to her height. Even as an Accepted, Avyra is convinced her ring was a mistake.

Aside from standing up on her tiptoes, she also is an avid hugger and loves to be next to people. She tends to pick on and tease those she cares about, but she doesn’t mean harm by it. When nervous, she will pull her entire body into a ball, legs against her chest. She also sneezes like a little kitten.

Biography

Avyra was born with the ability to channel, but never really explored it until she was about 19. Her family are middle class jewelers in Cairhien; both her parents are alive and she has two older brothers and a younger sister. Her mother was also born with the spark, leaving to the Tower to train as an Aes Sedai. However, during her fourth year as a Novice, she met Avyra's father, and she was soon head over heels for him, despite his obvious fear of Aes Sedai. She never told her husband about her powers, and he never found out, until Avyra.

Avyra is the only one of her children who can channel, although it is uncertain if her sister can be taught. Originally, Avyra didn't want to leave her family; she was content with working and living an easy, relaxed life, of working the store and managing income, until her first channeling episode, where she accidentally lit a flame, almost setting the entire shop up in a roaring blaze. Her mother was troubled but her father... her father couldn't bear the truth. He left them.

Even with the loss of Avyra's father, the family continued to run the store with little problems. Save for Avyra's powers. Her mother tried to convince young Avyra to leave, learn the One Power and find her own fate. Avyra refused. She didn't want to leave her family and home and venture off, by herself none the less! And at a time where they all needed to stay together.

It was her sister who finally told her to leave. She could see that Avyra wasn't cut out for the boring lifestyle of theirs and saw danger for Avyra if she stayed. It took much nagging, but Avyra eventually gave in, a rare example that supported the idea that she could eventually be swayed. Her sister bought a horse with the money she had saved, a blue roan stallion Avyra called Dun. She then packed her bags and left for the Tower, even though she was feeling uneasy about the whole situation. She had her entire life planned until now, this moment in the unknown. It was scary for her, but she had also never seen the world beyond her small town and country. During her journey, she decided she wanted to travel it all at the conclusion of her training.
