Description

The Children of the Light, disparagingly called the Whitecloaks, are based in the Fortress of the Light within Amadicia's capital city, Amador.

The sigil of Amadicia is a red thistle leaf laid over a silver six-pointed star, colloquioally known as the Thistle and Star. Its banner is the Thistle and Star on a field horizontally striped blue and gold, three of blue stripes and two gold.

Culture

Due to the belief among the Children of the Light that Aes Sedai are servants of the Dark One, both Aes Sedai and channeling are outlawed in Amadicia, and the merest suspicion of such activity can result in harsh punishment and execution. Similarly, the denouncement, trial, and execution of suspected Darkfriends is common, though the accused are often little more than social outcasts or the unlucky participants in disagreements.

The Children's expansionist aspirations have led to a number of wars in Amadicia, including the Whitecloak War with Illian and Altara, which the Children call "the Troubles."

Clothing and Appearance

In Amadicia, women wear deep bonnets that hide their faces. These bonnets have big velvet bows, and bows also feature dominantly on their dresses as well. Women favour styling their hair in long curls that drape down to their shoulders.

Rulers

Amadicia is, in theory, ruled by the King who commands a bureaucracy with the support of the noble houses. In reality, Amadicia is controlled by the Children of the Light who effectively organise all aspects of the nation for their benefit.
